Covenant of the Goddess responds to SCOTUS Ruling on Sectarian Prayer

The Covenant of the Goddess is deeply disappointed at Monday's Supreme Court ruling in the case Town of Greece vs. Galloway. It is our fear that such a ruling will lead to legislative prayer practices that fail to recognize or support the religious diversity within a given constituency. Our country was built on the promise of religious freedom. Our government, from town councils to our national Congress, should reflect that promise by supporting religious plurality and not falling back on traditions which no longer fit our changing American social landscape.

Covenant of the Goddess Responds to the Historic SCOTUS Rulings

Today SCOTUS has ruled on two cases that will directly affect many of our CoG members. Covenant of the Goddess supports equality and justice for all.  We are pleased to see that our country's highest court is making a decision to uphold that value. Today we celebrate with all of our LGBT members, their friends, families and communities as they take a huge step forward in their struggle for acceptance and freedom under the law.

Covenant of the Goddess Support Marriage Equality

For Immediate Release

MEDIA STATEMENT

The Covenant of the Goddess, a 38-year old Witch and Wiccan advocacy organization, extends its support to the entire LGBT community in its struggle for marriage equality within our country. We respect the diversity of religious thought even when it’s divergent from our own. As such, we support the legalization of civil marriages with all the associated civil benefits. Religious ceremony and choice should remain a private matter. While this issue is debated in our country’s highest court, we will continue to hold space with our own LGBT members and their families.
