Aid and Energy for Typhoon Victims

By Rafael Reviriego from Madrid, Spain (Orbiting Venus)

On November 8 Typhoon Haiyan devastated the Philippine islands with winds in excess of 150mph. CNN reports that this storm was 3.5 times more forceful than Hurricane Katrina, which hit the Gulf Coast in 2005.  To date the storm’s death toll stands at over 1800 but the Philippine government is expecting it to rise much higher. Over 600,000 people have been displaced and there are still many unreachable cities and remote areas with casualties yet uncounted.

An international relief effort is underway with U.S. and British military arriving to assist.  Many international and U.S. aid organizations are on the ground and slowly getting basic supplies to the hardest hit areas. These agencies are asking for monetary donations only so they can continue to provide for the needs of those affected and also prevent further devastation caused by disease and infrastructure collapse.

The Filipino people are now in the hearts of the world.  The Covenant of the Goddess joins them in sending energy and love towards recovery and rebuilding. At this time, if anyone is able to offer any monetary assistance, here are just a few agencies that are on the ground and currently asking for aid.
